On the long drive to Munnar from Cochin, we stopped at the driver’s recommendation at a roadside cafe, and had some of the best seafood of our trip! Our table in the restaurant overlooked the swimming pool to the valley beyond and the distant mountains. From the tandoor came freshly cooked breads, dosas (rice crepes), appams (rice pancakes), omelettes to order, to accompany the delicious menu items from the kitchen.
Chef Ranjit gave a cooking lesson – Liz learned to cook Avial (mixed vegetables in ground coconut), fish curry in the Kerala style, green pepper prawn roast, and other Kerala specialities.
